Today our Conductor taught us

To breathe correctly:

We should breathe with our diaphragms right below our rib cages, not with our lungs.

When breathe in the diaphragm should be expanded while breathe out the diaphragm should be shrunk.

To stand properly while singing:

The standing posture: one foot is a little bit in front of the other with 2 feet shoulder width apart. Knees are not locked. Arms hang down loosely in a relaxing way.

Our Assistant Conductor, Milton Liu, taught us

How to hold the breath as long as possible.

He also practiced singing with a forward tone for us by imagining the sound travels to the target on the blackboard with a hyperbolical path.

So, many volunteers came to the front and gave their talent shows.

Everybody recited a poem first and then sang a few verses of a song.

After that our Conductor gave very helpful advice to correct their way of speaking and singing.

Our conductor said that singing actually is the extension of speaking.

Therefore, we are supposed to have same tones in singing and speaking but with different pitches in singing.
